Lime Plastering & Rendering

Lime mortar has been shown time and again to be the best long term mortar and plaster for any home. Lime is often described as breathable which, in reality, means that it allows the passage of moisture thereby not trapping vapour in the wall causing potential damp issues and degredation of the structure.
Lime also offers a greater degree of flexibility over sand/cement and modern plasters, accomodating some movement of the structure of the property.
A further benefit of lime is that it helps avoid cold spots in walls helping to avoid nasty condensation spots and black mould
Lime Pointing & Repointing

Whether your home is of brick or stone the pointing is an often overlooked but vitally important area of the construction of your home. Lime mortar not only allows an element of flexibility to a wall it also allows the wall to breathe therefore not trapping moisture and damp in the wall

We have a 30 year history of restoration and individual build/ conversion works on older properties and approach all projects with focus on doing the best in the interests of the property while working with a customer to achieve their desired goal. We love quirky ideas! Miniature fireplace reveals, ‘shanty-shack’ shower cubicles, container conversions, try us with your ideas
Lime Training

OK so, as homeowners you want to really get involved and repair/restore/refurbish your home yourselves.... and why not? The sense of achievement of breathing fresh life into your home, fixing problems yourselves or just learning some new skills should never be underestimated. In our opinion the problem with training courses are that they are conducted away from where you want to do the work, in non-representative small working areas, with several trainees to 1 instructor giving demonstrations and you go home to tackle your project with your memories and a handout. Pormar's training is different; we design training to fit your abilities and your project. You are trained in your home, working on your project. You get the undivided attention of our trainer coupled with either ongoing training if or when needed, or just email or telephone back-up and support. Our training can also be worked round your availability ie weekends if required.
Consultancy & Reports

If you have a project, big or small, but don't know where to start or if there's a problem you cannot fathom out the cause of we can provide a consultancy service bespoke to you.
This service goes beyond an estimate and provides you with a report on the project in question, condition, issues, remedial schedule of works, materials quantity estimates and a written breakdown of how to do the work.
